Are you Hamilton City Council's next Head of Resource Recovery?
As the Head of Resource Recovery at Hamilton City Council, you will play a pivotal role in leading your team in the city's efforts to promote sustainable waste management practices.
In this strategic leadership position, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to increase recycling, minimise waste, and transition the city towards a more circular economy.
What will I be doing?Manage a team of dedicated professionals to deliver high-quality resource recovery services.Provide strategic oversight and direction for the city's resource recovery and waste management initiatives.Collaborate with key stakeholders, including businesses, community groups, iwi, mana whenua, and government agencies, to drive innovative solutions.Oversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Waste Management and Minimisation plan.Lead financial management of the unit's activities including revenue management, capital, operational budgets, and work in progress and capitalisation.Lead the contract management of the kerbside collection.Analyse data and monitor performance to identify areas for improvement and ensure the city's waste management targets are met.Represent the city on local, regional, and national waste management initiatives.What do I need for the role?Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.Relevant tertiary qualifications in a field such as environmental science, sustainability, waste management, or engineering.Minimum of 15 years' technical experience working in a closely allied field of work with a passion for, and commitment to, sustainability and environmental wellbeing, innovation, waste reduction, and delivering better outcomes for the environment and our community.Minimum of 10 years' management experience in a leadership position with experience in people leadership across multiple levels, sites, and activities.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and use it to drive decision-making.Demonstrated experience in communication and leading cultural and behavioural change, which includes engaging with internal and external stakeholders, including iwi, mana whenua, and government agencies to a senior level.Strong understanding of te ao Maori and the importance of relationships between nature and people.What's in it for me?At Hamilton City Council, we are committed to providing a supportive, flexible, and rewarding work environment.
