An exciting opportunity for an experienced research manager to provide innovative leadership and coordinated management to the Research Innovation Centre (RIC) at EIT.
The appointing salary for this role will be between $119,000.00 and $149,000.00, dependent on skills and experience.
The Head of Research is based in Te Matau a Maui | Hawkes Bay, reporting to the Executive Dean for the Faculty of Education, Humanities and Health Science and will be responsible for:
Develop and Implement Research Plans: Lead the creation and execution of the annual EIT Research Plan, ensuring alignment with performance targets and objectives.
Resource Management: Negotiate for necessary resources, manage income and expenses, and ensure efficient use of resources to meet RIC targets.
Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders and ensure effective communication and collaboration within the Institute.
Leadership and Support: Provide leadership and support to RIC staff, including recruitment, orientation, mentorship, and performance management.
Research Strategy and Policy: Lead the research strategy, maintain research policies and procedures, and ensure high-quality research outputs and knowledge exchange.
Research Development and Education: Design and facilitate a research development plan to support researchers across EIT, ensuring they have the necessary resources and training.
To be successful in this role you will have:
A PhD or equivalent level of knowledge.
A strong record of research, particularly in community-centered research, ideally aligned with the EIT Research Strategy areas: Community Health and Wellbeing, Innovative Teaching and Learning, Creativity and Curation, and Sustainable Futures.
Proven experience in leadership and management, preferably within a research context.
Knowledge and experience in working with funding partners, including a strong record of securing research funding.
An understanding of the principles of cultural safety and a commitment to developing a culturally safe working and learning environment, ensuring parity of kaimahi success.
The ability to articulate a research vision and strategy for the development, implementation, and delivery of successful research projects.
Strong planning, organizational, and objective-achievement skills.
The ability to network effectively with public, private, voluntary, iwi, and disability-related agencies.
Excellent interpersonal skills, communication style, and team-working abilities.
A high degree of professional judgment, personal initiative, commitment, and integrity.
The ability to build and maintain excellent relationships with external stakeholders and provide coordinated leadership and support for all staff in the RIC.
