Your Role: The primary purpose of this role is to provide leadership, vision and technical resource to ensure the profitable growth of P&C in NZ and look for new business opportunities for these products in the marketplace.
Your Responsibilities: • Achievement of the Departmental premium budget.
• Underwriting Profit
   Accountable for profit, underwriting and pricing decisions in NZ.
   Accountable for developing and implementing the NZ business plan.
   Analyses profit potential of the book of business and sets strategy for capitalising on market opportunities.
   Analyse problems of the book, determines appropriate business actions to improve position and implements those actions.
   Accountable for successful interaction of department with all other branch departments, Distribution, Claims, Risk Engineering, Accident & Health, Personal Risk Services and Marketing.
• Market Position
   Market Share:
   Accountable for meeting growth objectives of NZ.
   Producer / Insured Relationships.
   Accountable for building and maintaining effective long-term relationships with producers and insureds within New Zealand.
   Visit producers and insureds independently and with others to communicate P&C's market position and underwriting appetite. Initiate strategies to capitalise on business opportunities.
   Identifies and appoints prospective producers in partnership with NZ Distribution Manager.
• Market Programmes
   Accountable for the successful implementation of Chubb and P&C Market Initiatives in New Zealand.
   Utilises available marketing and training material to expand company position in traditional and new areas of specialisation.
   Orients other members of the Branch in P&C's underwriting appetite.
• Staff Development
   Accountable for recruiting, motivating, managing, developing and retaining quality P&C staff.
   Accountable for working with Human Resources in the aggressive recruitment of talented people on an ongoing basis.
   Accountable for implementing Chubb's diverse workplace strategy.
   Accountable for determining training needs within the department, both for existing staff and trainees and working with Human Resources to implement appropriate programmes.
   Conducts performance appraisals and salary reviews with direct reports and oversees the effective management of this process throughout the department.
   Accountable for assuring that all staff members understand their individual strengths and weaknesses, and are aware of career opportunities at Chubb, both inside and outside the department.
   Accountable for knowledge of staff's career concerns and ambitions.
   Accountable for providing growth opportunities for good performers and recommending and / or approving promotions / terminations within the department.
