Our teams based in Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland take pride in rigorously managing the budget, timeframe and scope of infrastructure projects to ensure end-user expectations are managed, and projects deliver value-for-money for the Crown.
Our objectives are to improve the consistency, effectiveness, and efficiency of Crown infrastructure delivery.Mo tenei turanga mahi | About the RoleReporting to the Director Corporate Services, the Head of Project Support Office (PSO) is a unique senior role responsible for developing and defining the standard of Rau Paenga's project, programme, and portfolio management systems and processes.
This strategic role leads a team of specialists, supporting major central government infrastructure projects, with programmes of work exceeding $1 billion and individual projects over $300m.The Head of PSO oversees a group of managers whose specialised functions, spread across our 3 offices, include project finance, project scheduling, quality and assurance, and risk and reporting.
Your strategic leadership will drive continuous improvement within the PSO and alignment of our project management standards and processes, fostering a culture innovation and efficiency.
You will build strong relationships with our government agency clients and internal stakeholders, to promote Rau Paenga's high-quality service delivery and PSO services, while ensuring the delivery of a high workload with diverse client needs.Other responsibilities include:Providing strategic direction and clarity, ensuring the PSO's work aligns with Rau Paenga's vision and objectives.Balancing resources capacity and capability with known and anticipated demand.Overseeing project reporting, risk management, quality assurance, scheduling, and finance functions.Developing future-focused services, systems, and processes that support delivery and lift productivity.Successful embedding of a new project budget and cost control system with a new vendor combined with new ways of working.Contributing to the development of a new funding model with Treasury that balances portfolio growth and financial constraints.Maintaining strong relationships with internal teams including finance and project delivery teams ensuring robust project management processes, standards, and reporting.Ko koe tenei | About YouTo be successful in this role, you will be a strategic and highly regarded leader with a proven history of leading a programme and portfolio office through change, enhancing project management capability and performance.
You will have strong commercial acumen and experience in managing complex stakeholder environments, particularly within the professional services sector.
Your ability to lead change and drive continuous improvements will be crucial to achieving Rau Paenga's objectives.You will be an empathetic, empowering, and people-focused leader, capable of fostering a high-performing team culture and driving organisational change.
