This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting Pasifika students in Y7–13, helping them to achieve success as Pasifika learners. Our TAPA (Teachers for the Advancement of Pasifika Achievement) class is specifically designed to value Pasifika language, culture, and identity. This is a part-time .2FTTE, starting term 1, 2025; further teaching hours may be available. Key responsibilities: Teach and inspire students from Y7–13 in the Pacific studies TAPA class, fostering an environment that honours Pasifika languages and cultures. Support Pasifika students through learning experiences that align with their cultural identity, helping them achieve NCEA recognition through Pasifika studies, language standards, dance, and physical education. Work closely with Pasifika families and the wider community to strengthen student achievement and engagement. Collaborate with a passionate team dedicated to the success of Pasifika students. Qualifications & experience: A strong passion for and commitment to Pasifika education, even if you are not Pasifika yourself. Ability to successfully co-teach and work interdependently. Experience in supporting NCEA qualifications is an advantage. Please advise of learning area strengths. A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the understanding and ability to teach using culturally responsive and relational pedagogy is essential. The successful applicant must be a NZ registered teacher and be willing to commit to our co-curricular programme also.
