About the Role An opportunity has arisen for this significant Clinical Leadership role in Oral Health.
The focus of this role (in management partnership) is:

To provide strategic and clinical leadership and advice for Dental Therapists / Oral Health Therapists, Dentists, Managers and the Community Oral Health Service as a whole (across the life span/under Service Specifications) To fully participate in clinical and quality development and management of the hospital specialist dental and community oral health service, including attending clinical management meetings, assisting to develop clinical guidelines and policies, and contributing to an annual workplan to cover the clinical priorities of the service To lead and provide education sessions, workshops and guidance for oral health staff as required for safe clinical practice and to achieve priorities in the clinical workplan To work with other leaders, professional networks and agencies to improve equity, access to care and system improvement Lead and contribute to Business Cases To analyse, monitor and present oral health data, statistics and clinical variation indicators to inform workplan priorities To work with the community oral health service to progressively implement preventative models of care To provide community assessment/triage and treatment clinics including general anaesthetics, for children, young people and referred adults, where this is out of scope for oral health therapists and dental therapists. To improve access to clinical dentistry by providing oral health care, that may include care under sedation, for selected 0-17 year olds from community sites and any other age groups as required To actively facilitate the care pathway through secondary and tertiary oral health services To participate in local, regional and national working groups where possible to provide input in wider oral health initiatives and directions and to bring back learnings to Tairawhiti (including Public Health Promotion/Prevention). About you Registration with Dental Council of New Zealand therefore inclusive of scope of practice A current practicing certificate with the Dental Council of New Zealand A certificate of Good Standing from the Dental Council of New Zealand Bachelor of Dental Surgery (Otago) or equivalent qualification to be eligible for registration in New Zealand Previous clinical practice across all age groups (particularly children) Minimum 3 years public dentistry experience Awareness of application of research and innovation that has resulted in improved clinical practice and service delivery model Preferably applicant must have demonstrated experience working within Hospital Specialist Dental Services / Familiar with Service Specifications and framework for Public sector oral health provision for high needs and vulnerable New Zealanders Applicant will have leadership experience/Ability to develop business cases and present to a wide audience Demonstrated ability to work across the system with service providers and funders Demonstrated quality leadership and initiatives to improve equity and outcomes (including evidence of use of audit and evaluation) Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
