Head of Department: Literacy and CommunicationFull time, PermanentSecondary (Years 7–15) / Wharekura, Middle LeadershipEnglish2MU + 1MMASeeking foundation HoD's for proposed new charter school.Auckland Sports College (ASC) is a proposed Y11-14 single-sex (male) charter school, which if offered a contract, will commence term 1, 2025, from premises in Otahuhu.We are looking for an enthusiastic experienced leader to lead our newly created department:HoD Literacy & CommunicationThis is an exciting challenge for an innovative leader with vision and excellent curriculum understanding to grow a new department.The successful candidate must have:At least 4 years of teaching experience, preferably in NZ.Strong time management and organisational skills.Culturally responsive practitioner and leader.Excellent communication and collaboration skills.An ability to support others to develop their teaching practice.A successful track record of teaching up to Level 3 NCEA and Scholarship level.Auckland Sports College:We regard secondary school as a youth development service and operate within a positive youth development framework.We operate extended hours, with tutoring and some teaching provided in the evenings. There is no obligation on teachers to teach after 3pm.ASC will offer a STEM-focused curriculum in a positive youth development environment to students with a keen interest in sport who have left school early or who are on their way out of school. This might include boys who have become disengaged with their learning.
