If you thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, have resilience and adaptability, and—above all—are passionate about communication, we'd love to hear from you.What You'll Do:Internal communications: You'll develop and implement a plan that aligns with our strategic goals and ensures our internal messaging supports a connected, well-informed and engaged workforce.External communications: Overseeing the strategic and cohesive delivery of material on our website, social media and via media releases, you'll guide the image and story of Whakaata Maori.
Starting with a strategic lens, you will plan and then deliver consistent and compelling key messaging to audiences, ultimately building audience engagement.Stakeholder relationship management: By nurturing key relationships, you'll naturally encourage strong and positive connections with partners, stakeholders and communities.Event management: Working strategically, you'll design and plan events or community engagement activities to further foster and develop relationships, with management oversight during delivery of the activities.Leadership: Part of this role includes effective leadership of the team, operating within approved relevant budgets, and contribution to regular corporate reporting.What You Bring:5+ years of experience in a relevant senior leadership position and proven ability to work well within senior management.Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations or similar.Exceptional communication skills and a collaborative approach to leadership.Experience working with media, including responding to media queries.Strategic thinking, with the ability to develop and implement successful communication plans.Fluency in te reo Maori is highly desirable (or a strong commitment to learning).Experience working in a kaupapa Maori organisation would be an advantage but is not essential provided you are comfortable working in a bilingual environment.Strong knowledge of relevant legislation including OIA and BSA requirements.Because here, you'll be more than a leader—you'll be part of a movement.
