About the role Due to the continued growth of our Merchandise Buying team, we are looking for an experienced buying professional to lead a successful and motivated team of buying specialists.
In conjunction with your team, you will lead negotiations with vendors to achieve targeted financial outcomes, as well as developing strong partnerships with vendors across retail and non-retail brands.
Key accountabilities will include:
Lead the team and have oversight of participating Category Reviews, including assisting team members with complex problem solving or significant negotiations.
Identify new partnership opportunities and/or commercial tactics across Retail and non-Retail brands that align with the Buying Framework.
Create and maintain a successful, collaborative and learning team culture through positive and proactive management and support of all team members.
Work with the wider Merchandise – Commercial team to adhere to data driven guidance and financial parameters to negotiate within.
Work with the Category & Promotions team to review all negotiations across Retail and non-Retail brands and utilise the information to inform the negotiation approach.
Contribute to opportunities for improving the financial performance of non-trade procurement across Foodstuffs South Island.
About you Relevant tertiary qualification e.g. BCom.
6+ years proven experience in a role of similar size and scale.
A strong understanding of end-to-end financials within a buying process.
Advanced negotiation and influencing skills with the ability to secure mutually beneficial outcomes for all stakeholders.
Technically savvy and familiar with CRM and procurement specific software.
Knowledge of the FMCG industry would be an advantage.
