Our Club: Tauranga Artistic Swimming Club, based in Mount Maunganui, New Zealand, is a non-profit, membership-driven club offering a mix of recreational and competitive programs. Athletes train up to four times a week during the school term at Baywave Aquatic and Leisure Centre. We cater to swimmers of all ages, from 7 years old to master's level, providing pathways for both beginners and experienced swimmers. We foster a fun, supportive environment where coaches work closely with athletes to help them reach their full potential.
Summary of Position: We are seeking a passionate Head Coach to lead the growth and development of our club. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, communication, and technical skills, driving unity and progress. Reporting to our parent-run board, the Head Coach will provide leadership across programming and staff management.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Ideally, have a minimum of 3 years coaching experience with regional artistic swimming (synchro) clubs in NZ or overseas.
Coach athletes from beginner to advanced level in all aspects of artistic swimming, including routines, figures, and technical elements.
Expertise in choreographing routines, music selection, and costume (tog) management.
Experience leading land training sessions focused on stretching, strength, and conditioning.
Experience as a high-performance coach is an advantage, or the ability to coach athletes to a high-performance level.
Foster a positive, goal-oriented environment for swimmers.
Strong communication and collaboration skills with athletes, families, and coaches.
Willingness to work evenings and weekends and travel to competitions as required.
Working Hours: Up to 20 hours per week during school terms, including three weeknights (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) and Saturdays. Possibility to increase hours for a motivated, open-minded individual.
