Are you a talented chef with a passion for creating delicious dishes? Are you wanting to move away from years of late night service, or perhaps looking for a new challenge? We want to hear from you! We are seeking an experienced and friendly Chef to join our team in a permanent part-time (30hrs) position of 'Head Chef - Cafe'.
Who are we | Ko Waitangi Tenei The Whare Waka Cafe is nestled within the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, Aotearoa New Zealand's most important historic site. We are an award-winning tourism destination that attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year, from all over Aotearoa and the world. The Whare Waka Cafe is a key part of the visitor experience, offering a range of food and beverages with unparalleled views of Ngatokimatawhaorua and Kororareka Russell. The cafe is also open to the public and provides a welcoming environment for all.
We are needing a culinary superstar to:
Design and execute an innovative and seasonally-inspired menu and cabinet that caters to a diverse range of tastes and dietary preferences.Prepare and present dishes as per the menu, ensuring they meet our high standards for taste, quality, and visual appeal.Lead a young, passionate kitchen team and oversee their training and development.Monitor inventory levels, place orders and manage food costs to contribute to the cafe's financial success.Be compliant with all necessary food safety procedures.Collaborate and adapt processes to streamline operations and ensure timely service in busy periods.What you'll need to be successful | O Pukenga Our ideal candidate will have:
At least 4-5 years of experience in a chef role with a level 4 Certificate in Hospitality (Cookery).A positive, solutions focused mindsetLeadership and mentoring skillsEfficiency and proven experience of multi-taskingStrong knowledge of menu planning, stock management and food safety.Why you'll love working here | Nau mai ki Waitangi As a people-focused organisation, Waitangi Treaty Grounds offers a supportive workspace for employees to thrive and develop.
