Job Category: Household Services/Food ServicesA highly sought after role of Head Chef has recently become available at our residential facility St John of God Halswell.
Situated in quiet park-like surroundings in central Halswell, St John of God Halswell proudly supports and houses 60 residents who have varying levels of neurological and/or physical disabilities.
We are a values-based, not-for-profit organisation.
For some of our residents, we are their home for life, while others stay for shorter periods for rehabilitation or clinical support.Our modern commercial kitchen and efficient food services team are responsible for producing three meals per day for over 60 residents, some of whom have varying dietary and food texture requirements.
The role of Head Chef is to oversee and produce the cooking of nutritious and appetising meals to the required standard for the residents.
You will be familiar with menus prescribed by a dietitian and have a sound knowledge of dysphagia and modified diets.
In addition to this, your role will be to recruit, train, and manage the team of Food Services Assistants, as well as creating the rosters for all members of your team.
The purchasing of all food goods, maintaining stock levels and budgets is an intrinsic part of the role of Head Chef.The requirements for the role:Recognised qualifications in Food Handling and Cooking.Proven experience in food services management.Traceable references in New Zealand within either the hospitality or healthcare sectors.Strong communication and leadership skills together with a positive attitude.Experience in rostering a team of kitchen staff.Familiar with modified diets and dysphagia.Creative menu building.Strong budgeting and administration skills.Job DescriptionIf you are looking for a job that makes a daily difference in the lives of others by providing wholesome and nutritious meals, and you have the skills to lead the team to assist you in reaching these goals, then we look forward to hearing from you.
