Hotel: Scenic Hotel Bay of Islands Location:  58 Seaview Road, Paihia Employment Type:  Full-time, permanent waged role.  Hours:  Minimum Guaranteed of 40 hours per week. (Rostered over 7 days including weekends) Salary: $70 000.00 - $75 000.00 p/a Accommodation: Studio apartment available to rent at the hotel. Explore the hotel:  this role for you? Responsibilities: Plan and oversee food preparation for hotel outlets Manage food ordering and labor costs Lead and supervise kitchen team Resolve issues promptly Ensure quality control of prepared dishes Maintain food safety compliance Foster positive relationships with colleagues and guests Ensure smooth kitchen operations Collaborate with management on planning and forecasting Supervise kitchen staff for safety and hygiene standards Maintain high standards of food preparation and presentation Manage staffing and food costs within budget Assist in staff selection and training Maintain kitchen equipment and safety protocols Manage stock storage and paperwork Ensure compliance with relevant legislation Support ad-hoc projects as needed Preferred Skills and Experience: 5 + years experience in a Head Chef role with a high focus on quality whilst operating at high volumes. A leadership style that is authentic, engaging and strategic, based on identified business priorities. Understanding of luxury components, with a sharp attention to detail and high focus on the food experience. NZ Certificate in Cookery (Level 4) OR equivalent international experience Proven ability to check and manage food stocks and inventory (ordering) and food costing. Ability to design creative and delicious menus. Confidently fix problems in the kitchen. Expert understanding of how commercial kitchens work. Expert understanding of safe food handling, hygiene procedures and Food Control Plans. Ability to lead. A leadership style that is authentic, engaging and strategic, based on identified business priorities. A positive, can-do attitude that shows resilience and maturity with strong communication skills.
