Job Category: Household Services/Food ServicesA sought-after Head Chef role is available at our residential facility, St John of God Halswell.
Located in quiet park-like surroundings in central Halswell, we support and house 60 residents with varying neurological and physical disabilities.We are a values-based, not-for-profit organisation, providing a home for life for some residents while others stay for shorter periods for rehabilitation or clinical support.Duties and ResponsibilitiesOur modern commercial kitchen produces three meals per day for over 60 residents, some with dietary and food texture requirements.
The Head Chef will oversee meal preparation, ensuring nutritious and appetising dishes meet resident needs.You will be familiar with menus prescribed by a dietitian and have knowledge of dysphagia and modified diets.
Key responsibilities include:Recruiting, training, and managing Food Services AssistantsCreating rosters for team membersPurchasing food goods and maintaining stock levelsRequirementsTo be successful in this role, you will require:Recognised qualifications in Food Handling and CookingProven experience in food services managementTraceable references in New Zealand within hospitality or healthcare sectorsStrong communication and leadership skillsExperience in rostering a team of kitchen staffFamiliarity with modified diets and dysphagiaCreative menu buildingStrong budgeting and administration skillsWorking with UsWe employ people from diverse backgrounds and promote inclusive work environments.
