Head Baker And/Or Pastry Chef

Bakers & Pastry Chefs (Trades & Services)
La Voie Francaise, a busy French bakery on Dominion Road, is looking for a Head Baker and/or Pastry Chef.

*Roster is 5 days a week - 40 hours a week (weekends are preferred) from 5am to 1pm. Competitive wages - Friendly team!

Responsibilities:
Prepare baked goods, pastries, dough, etc., ensuring all stages are followed through.
Ensure the presentation is beautiful and refined.
Work with other bakers to carry out kitchen operations efficiently.
Ensure the kitchen is compliant with occupational health and safety and hygiene regulations.
Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, equipment, and tools for baking before starting.
Check if all equipment and tools are ready to use and safe.
Check the quality, expiry dates, and weigh ingredients.
Consider the volume of pastry goods depending on counter sales and stock levels of ingredients, checking product appearance to determine baking times (due to weather or other factors).
Prepare and get ready for the next day (emptying, cleaning, and greasing baking trays, cake moulds, sweet pastry moulds such as caneles, madeleines, etc., and other cooking equipment).
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Baker or Pastry Chef (must have at least three years of relevant experience).
Sound knowledge of French pastries and bread.
Great attention to detail, creativity, organizing skills, and willingness to replenish professional knowledge.
