With the emphasis on fun, innovative dining, Harbourside Ocean Bar Grill is located on the first floor, and is our premium seafood restaurant showcasing the freshest seasonal produce with dishes created by our extremely skilled chefs along with an enviable wine list. We pride ourselves on providing premium fun dining experiences to the thousands of guests that visit each year and do our best to ensure that our staff stand out from the rest, are enthusiastic and have the ability and passion to consistently exceed our customer expectations.
THE ROLE As the Head Chef you'll be heavily involved in a hands-on operation in a very busy and fast paced kitchen, leading a team of up to 15 chefs/kitchen staff.
You will support the current team with a focus on quality and consistency. You'll be helping to create menus with a big emphasis on using fresh and seasonal produce.
You must have a true passion for food and a fresh clean approach to plating and presentation of dishes for our customers.
You'll be a naturally strong leader and have proven ability to train, inspire and motivate. Maintaining quality and consistency is a key factor in the day to day running of our kitchens.
REQUIREMENTS Previous experience in high end, fast paced or a hatted restaurant in a similar role and be able to demonstrate strong career progression over a requisite number of years.
Be comfortable managing a busy kitchen with a high level of consistency and creativity.
Outstanding organisational and communication skills.
Smart procurement practices.
To follow all food hygiene guidelines in accordance with H&S and FCP.
Proven disciplines in managing food/wage costs and rosters is a prerequisite.
Ability to work in synergy with all restaurant staff and other stakeholders.
Eligibility to work in NZ is essential, ideally NZ resident or citizen.
