Mo te tunga | About the role:  As a Hansard Editor, you'll play a crucial role in accurately recording and transcribing parliamentary debates and speeches. This position offers a unique opportunity to witness democracy in action while contributing to the official historical record of New Zealand's Parliament.
Every day is different within Parliament and as Hansard Editor, you'll be amongst it all.
Transcribe and edit parliamentary debates and select committee meetings. to ensure clarity and readability. Proofread transcripts, maintaining a high level of accuracy and consistency. Research and verify information, names, and technical terms. To kete | What you will bring to the role: Your exceptional editorial skills will be vital in ensuring the team is able to produce accurate, edited transcripts of debates and committee meetings. An excellent knowledge of the English language, with flawless spelling and grammar and a strong typing speed. A very keen eye for detail and an ability to work to tight deadlines. Excellent judgment, a good sense of when to escalate issues, and comfort in working with ambiguity. A collaborative and pragmatic approach to your work. Familiarity with New Zealand's politics and current affairs would be preferred. A knowledge of te reo Maori is advantageous. Due to the nature of this role, you will need to work in the evenings on sitting weeks (Tues 1pm-11pm, Weds 1pm-11pm, Thurs 10am-7pm) while training. This takes around 6 months.

The starting salary range for this role is $70,125 - $77,520 per annum. Appointments will be based on skills and experience (please note, the full salary range extends beyond this to allow for tenure progression).
