The Role We are seeking a hardworking Maintenance Technician to support the Sudima Kaikoura team by ensuring the facilities are tidy and well maintained. This position is for 40 hours per week. The role is Monday-Friday; however, some flexibility with hours and days is required. We are looking for a jack of all trades that is comfortable performing varied duties day to day. You will need to be a passionate painter as this is a large part of the role at times. Responsibilities include: General maintenance repairs which can include plumbing, painting, building, electrical, refrigeration, air-conditioning, room checks, preventative maintenance. To receive and action all department maintenance requests in a timely manner. Keep an awareness of repairs and maintenance throughout the hotel during your day-to-day tasks. Investigate reported faults and rectify/escalate to Head of Department or other HODs as required. Complete tasks required to fulfil full building, systems and plant preventative maintenance schedule. Purchase maintenance materials as directed by Head of Department. Liaise with relevant contractors as directed by Head of Department. Action regular maintenance tasks to ensure the building warrant of fitness certificate is complete and up to date. To carry out periodical checks of contractor maintenance to ensure standard and professionalism is being maintained. Support regular service of appliances and equipment. Regular liaison with all departments in particular, Front Office and Housekeeping to ensure rooms are returned to full working order as quickly as possible. Attend hotel meetings and briefings as/when required. Ensure you follow all hotel policies and procedures including access to guest rooms/plant/machinery etc. Requirements NZQF Diploma (ANZSCO Skill Level 2) : At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above. In some instances, relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification. Qualifications appropriate to the role eg. Trade Qualification or Certificate such as Electrical, Plumbing, Building desired. Full Clean Driver's License. Familiar with using Microsoft Office Suite and able to pick up other computer systems easily. Strong written and verbal communication. Previous experience to include: Minimum 2 years of trade or general maintenance experience.
