Guidance Counsellor

Position: Guidance Counsellor (Secondary - Years 7–15) / WharekuraSubjects: English, Health and Physical Education, Learning Languages, Mathematics and Statistics, Science, Social Sciences, Technology, Te Reo Maori, The Arts1MUWe are seeking a qualified counsellor to join our guidance team in 2025. The ideal applicant will be passionate about working with young people and able to thrive in a busy school environment. They will have the skills to competently manage their own caseload of clients while also navigating and appropriately responding to a crisis if needed. They will have the discernment around balancing therapeutic support of our students within a school context and be able to work collaboratively within the school's pastoral team.Qualifications: The candidate must hold either a bachelor's degree in counselling or a Master of Counselling and be a member of a professional body.They will be comfortable liaising with external agencies and working to support these within the school. They will be committed to promoting and advocating for the wellbeing of all our students.We are seeking the right fit for our busy guidance team, and we offer a rewarding and supportive environment that is positive and fun.Experience: Previous experience as a school counsellor or in a similar role is an advantage.
