Group Procurement Manager - Capex & EngineeringWestland Milk Products is a well-known New Zealand end-to-end dairy manufacturer based in the beautiful South Island with offices and production facilities based in both Christchurch and Hokitika. Owned by the Global Top 5 dairy company Yili Group, Westland Milk Products and its related companies in New Zealand - Oceania Dairy (Glenavy), Pure Nutrition Ltd (Rolleston), Canary Foods (Hamilton) and EasiYo (Auckland) - form a group that we refer to as the Yili Oceania Business Division (YOBD). The combined business produces over 170,000mt of finished goods which are then exported to over 40 countries, driving annual revenue well in excess of $1.3B - and growing.About the role:Reporting to our General Manager Supply Chain and based in Christchurch (Hornby), we have a new opportunity to join YOBD as our Group Procurement Manager - Capex & Engineering. Working as part of a wider procurement team of 11 (including 2 procurement peers - Head of Direct and Head of Indirect Procurement), this role will lead a team of 2, with responsibility for managing the capital procurement and engineering procurement portfolio functions at a group level across all YOBD entities. The role will give you exposure at all levels of this dynamic and growing group, where your procurement expertise, guidance, and decision-making will be a critical part of our continued success.Responsibilities include:Conducting and ensuring best Capex & Engineering procurement practice to deliver the most cost-effective results, compliance, and best quality across YOBD.Leading and providing an exemplary business partner service to assist each business unit with their procurement needs while maintaining best practice and driving cost-saving initiatives.Working closely with the OPEX procurement teams, facilitating and developing a procurement strategy and roadmap to support the company's overall strategy.Effective Capital and Engineering portfolio supplier management including supplier approval and day-to-day supplier performance management.Providing motivational leadership and development to the C&E procurement team.Applicants will ideally possess:Proven practical experience in a procurement leadership role, ideally supported by a relevant tertiary/CIPS qualification.Previous experience with capital projects/engineering related procurement.A proven track record of driving cost reduction initiatives and achieving significant savings through strategic sourcing, effective negotiation, and innovative procurement strategies, while maintaining high-quality standards and supplier performance.Proven experience managing the entire procurement lifecycle for large and complex projects, including planning, sourcing, RFP processes, negotiation, contract management, and supplier performance evaluation.Demonstrated ability to work effectively across a large and complex group, collaborating with multiple internal departments to achieve procurement objectives.Exceptional relationship building abilities together with superior written and verbal communication skills.Well-developed commercial acumen together with excellent negotiation and influencing skills.Strong leadership attributes with the ability to develop a high performing and engaged team.What's in it for you?Company incentive scheme.Health insurance.Life insurance.Free parking.Employee assistance & wellbeing programs.Enhanced parental leave provisions.+ Delicious discounted grass-fed butter!This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join a large and complex organisation as its group companies continue to evolve and synergise.
