Owned by the Global Top 5 dairy company Yili Group, Westland Milk Products and its related companies in New Zealand – Oceania Dairy (Glenavy), Pure Nutrition Ltd (Rolleston), Canary Foods (Hamilton) and EasiYo Ltd (Auckland) – form a group referred to as the Yili Oceania Business Division (YOBD).
The combined business produces over 170,000mt of finished goods which are then exported to over 40 countries, driving annual revenue well in excess of $1.3B – and growing.About the Role:Based in Christchurch (Hornby) and reporting to our Group Financial Controller, we have a rare opportunity to join Westland Milk Products as our Group Finance Manager working at a YOBD group level.
This is an exciting and varied senior role supported by a talented Group Accountant with responsibility for ensuring effective day-to-day Treasury management, compliance, and reporting is in place across all Yili Oceania Group companies.
The role is a key financial liaison with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders and also interfaces internationally with Yili HQ in China.Responsibilities Include:Treasury Management – acting as the lead point of contact for Group companies on treasury and FX advice and questions and owning the local treasury policy in line with the HQ treasury team.
Banking relationships and day-to-day liaison, cashflow/working capital/term debt management, FX/Hedging arrangements, and leading treasury committee meetings with the CEO & CFO.Group Accounting - Group consolidation and reporting, including ensuring all monthly and quarterly financial reports are accurate, timely, and compliant.
Preparation of year-end Group reporting pack and working with the subsidiary Finance teams to drive continuous improvement.Annual Statutory Accounts - responsible for the preparation of high-quality Annual Statutory Accounts including note disclosures (NZIRS compliant) in conjunction with our external audit partners.Group Tax Planning & Compliance - working with external tax advisers on income tax, FBT, and GST returns as necessary to ensure compliance with relevant tax requirements for the Group.Group Accounting Policies - leading the maintenance and updating of Group accounting and other Finance-related policies, ensuring that they are in line with NZIFRS and HQ requirements.Insurance Management/Renewals – liaison with relevant internal and external stakeholders.Due to the level of communication required with Yili business units and Yili HQ in China, the ability to build relationships and establish and maintain clear lines of communication and influence is key.
As such, ideally, the Group Finance Manager will be proficient in both written and spoken Mandarin and English.
Also note that Group accounting periods always start on the 1st of each month, hence there will be a requirement for reimbursed weekend/public holiday working as required in this role to complete month-end close and reporting requirements.Ideal Applicants Will Possess:A relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting or Finance and ideally CA qualified.Significant experience in a technical accounting/finance position, ideally gained in an equivalent large company corporate accounting environment or Big 4/large CA firm.Strong technical financial accounting skills.Well-developed treasury knowledge/experience.Good understanding of NZIFRS reporting, tax compliance requirements, and the importance of effective accounting policies.Strong analytical and reporting skills with excellent attention to detail.Excellent relationship building, collaboration, and communication skills.What's in it for You?A competitive base salary.Company incentive scheme.Health insurance.Life insurance.Free parking.Career development.Employee assistance & wellbeing programs.Enhanced parental leave provisions.+ Delicious discounted grass-fed butter!!
