We are a NZ owned and operated business that prides ourselves on being our customers' most trusted food service provider.
We are looking for a Grocery Buyer to help us provide excellent service and demonstrate to our clients that we have what they need! Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the buying activities for all Grocery and Liquor departments. This is a leadership role and extremely rewarding being part of one of the biggest growth areas of the wider Foodstuffs co-op.
Standard roster: Monday - Friday start 7 am – 4 pm (also negotiable for the right candidate).
The Role:
Managing the Buying programme for our Grocery and Liquor departments via SAP, setting the goal and vision to deliver on commercial outcomes that drive key strategic department growth.
Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders working on hot opportunities and long-term strategy. Negotiate vendor deals and meet department KPI's around sales and margin.
Ensure details - from obsolete stock to commodities planning and investments buy up. Not forgetting NPD – looking for fresh opportunities as per market trends.
Maintain stock levels at optimum level, negotiate, partner, and communicate with suppliers to get the best deals for our customers.
Review and manage necessary administrative functions of the role. Ensure completed paperwork is up to date and compliant.
Using SAP to order all stock through approved vendors. All orders placed on time.
Ensure your department meets service level and DIFOT goals.
Ensure vendor credits and parked invoices are cleared each week.

What are we looking for:
Buying experience is necessary.
A working knowledge of SAP and Salesforce is preferred.
Strong communication (verbal and written), relationship management, negotiation, and networking skills who is customer-focused.
Strongly analytical skills and strategy development.
Ambitious, motivating, results-oriented and willing to lead the team through the next level of growth.
This role would suit someone who has a love of food and experience in the food service industry and who is wanting a career.
Must be eligible to work in New Zealand.
