Are you looking to take your career further?Valmet New Zealand is looking to appoint a suitably experienced Grinder Operator/Fitter to support our customer at their manufacturing site in Kinleith. This role is part of a small team of mechanical tradespeople, who work autonomously and partner with our customer to maintain their plant/equipment and maximise their production output. The team is a tight-knit group with many years of experience, knowledge and comradery. In addition to being a part of a welcoming and hard-working team, this role has an extensive handover period, meaning that you will receive a great deal of mentoring and development in your initial stages of employment. Responsibilities: In supporting our customer's maintenance requirements, this role will be responsible for roll grinding to our customer's requirements. This involves determining the best roll grinding processes and grinding equipment for the particular job, hardness testing/recording, cylindrical grinding of various material grades (including polyurethane, rubber, chilled iron, composites and ceramics) and surface finish inspection/recording. You will also have the opportunity to jump into a number of onsite projects to improve onsite performance and efficiency. Requirements: This role requires a person who has previously worked in a manufacturing setting, has strong interpersonal skills, and demonstrates the drive and commitment to meet set targets. In particular, you need to be trade certified with proven experience as a Fitter, Turner, Machinist or Roll Grinderperson, with a general understanding of engineering and mechanical processes. Accordingly, you will have the ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings and manuals and have a strong focus on health and safety, knowing that anything that you do is not worth getting injured for.
