We have awesome benefits to support you including 5 weeks of annual leave and hybrid working.About the roleAs a Graphic Designer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the visual identity of Palmerston North City Council.
Working closely with the Marketing and Communications team, you'll deliver creative, on-brand designs that support Council campaigns, publications, and digital media.
From conceptualizing ideas to producing high-quality designs, your work will contribute to communicating the Council's vision effectively to the community.This is a fast-paced role where no two days are the same, offering a chance to flex your creativity while maintaining the consistency of the Council's brand identity.This role is full-time, 40 hours per week, and is for a 12-month fixed-term period.In this role, your focus will be:Creating visually engaging and brand-aligned designs for campaigns, publications, and digital media.Managing multiple projects while ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.Providing strategic design advice to meet the needs of various stakeholders.Collaborating with the Marketing team to brainstorm and execute creative ideas.Maintaining and advising on the Council's brand identity across all media platforms.Supporting the development of content by working with photographers and advising on print specifications.About YouYou're a creative professional with a strong design portfolio and a passion for delivering effective visual solutions.
With excellent technical skills and a keen eye for detail, you're adept at managing multiple projects and working collaboratively to bring ideas to life.
Your understanding of corporate branding, layout, and typography enables you to create impactful designs that resonate with diverse audiences.To excel in this role, you should possess:A Bachelor's degree in design or equivalent qualification.4-5 years of experience in print and/or digital design.Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to deliver solutions under tight deadlines.Experience in managing large design projects such as annual reports or plans.Confidence in preparing files for digital and offset printing.Excellent organizational and communication skills.A commitment to continuous learning, including openness to upskilling in te reo Maori and tikanga Maori.About usPalmerston North (or as we like to call it, Palmy) is a growing, innovative, and exciting city.
