Mo te tunga | About the role

Working within Evidence Based Policing and NZ Police's Deployment Group, the Graduate Research Insights Advisor contributes to the provision of research insights to guide strategic decision making within our organisation, while maintaining a connection to operational demands and practice.

This work includes providing advice and insight into topics such as policing demand, offending patterns and prevention methods, illicit substances, Police practice and procedure, equipment, and training.

As a Graduate Research Insights Advisor, you will have a passion and curiosity for crime science and problem-solving methods. Your role will involve conducting research and using evidence and insights to support decision makers across the organisation. The successful applicant will also benefit from extensive training and mentoring from experienced researchers, evaluators and practitioners.

Key Accountabilities:

Supports the development of informed insights that support the delivery of projects within the EBP team.

Assist in the development of both rapid evidence products and multi-year programmes of research.

Work collaboratively and effectively as part of a multidisciplinary and multi-agency team within a dynamic environment.

Develop working relationships with colleagues within Evidence-Based Policing and the wider Service Delivery business unit, as well as with Districts, Service Centres, and the Royal New Zealand Police College.

A tertiary qualification in a relevant research or evaluation field (or equivalent work experience) is required for this role.

Applied research experience (either through work or study e.g. internships) is desirable.

A keen interest to learn and develop in practical research methods.

This role is based at the Evidence Based Policing Centre in CBD Wellington.

Applicants must have the appropriate rights to work full-time within New Zealand.

This role is set at Individual Contributor level , meaning your key purpose is "to deliver or enable others to deliver Our Business".

Utu a-tau | Salary

This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $74,748 and $78,129 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
