Mo te tunga | About the role
As a Government House Guard, you will contribute to the security and wellbeing of the Governor General of New Zealand, their family, and to Government House staff and visitors.
You will be responsible for monitoring internal and external security cameras at Government House, as well as controlling and restricting entry to authorised vehicles and personnel. Patrolling the grounds on foot is a great way to monitor the perimeter security fence, and to take in the sights of the immaculate Government House grounds.
You will also assist VIP and guest access to Government House for functions and events, and liaise with Close Protection Teams.

To be able to commence duties in this position, you will need to obtain, and maintain, certification in:
Police Integrated Tactical Training (PITT),
First Aid.
You will be required to undertake and successfully complete a short period of training upon commencement to enable you to be issued with the Authorised Officer warrant. This includes 1 week of training based at the Royal New Zealand Police College, Porirua. Additional training will be required from time to time to maintain the warrant.
Full (clean) NZ Driver's License.
New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Residency.
Pass a pre-employment drug test and health checks.
Good command of the English language.
Level of fitness – you will be required to meet the standards of our Physical Assessment.
A Non-Core Children's Worker safety check is required.
This role is set at Individual Contributor level , this means your key purpose is "to deliver or enable others to deliver Our Business".
This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $69,337 and $72,430 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
