Our environment here is part of who we are, and at ORC, we work each day to look after it.The OpportunityThe Governance team at the Otago Regional Council are looking for a Governance Support Officer to join the team on a part-time basis (22.5 hrs per week) in our busy Dunedin office.The purpose of this role is to provide accurate and efficient end-to-end meeting support for Council and its Committees.As a Governance Support Officer, you will be responsible for:Ensuring the effective and efficient co-ordination of Council and Committee meetings.Providing high-quality secretarial support for a portfolio of Council and Committee meetings, including, but not limited to; agenda preparation and distribution, recordings of proceedings, decisions, and voting records, distribution of workshop materials and livestreaming, recording or uploading meetings to YouTube.With support from the team, providing advice to the Chair and Chief Executive on Standing Orders to ensure meetings are well run.Ensuring that Council meetings are undertaken in accordance with Council's legislative requirements.If you are keen to put your excellent verbal and written communication skills to use to support Council Governance, then this is the role for you!About YouOur ideal candidate will have:A tertiary qualification in business administration or a related subject.Experience working in or with local or central government.Experience providing secretarial or governance services.Knowledge of meeting procedures.Knowledge of the Local Government and Official Information Act.Well-developed communication skills, both written and oral.What we offerWe recognise and celebrate diversity within Team ORC and are committed to providing a work environment that supports inclusion and equal opportunities.
