Governance Experts – Schools (Consulting Opportunities) We're looking to refresh our pool of approved "statutory service providers" to work alongside school boards. We appoint people based on the unique needs of a board and your skill set, as and when required.
Where there is a risk to the operation of a school or the welfare of its students, the Ministry may support the board via a statutory intervention. We're after people with governance expertise, especially in schools, to express interest and be approved for this work.
We can appoint either an individual or an organisation.
When we have a situation that matches your skill set, we'll call and ask if you're available. This work alongside a board typically lasts for 12 to 24 months.
Providers are paid either by the school or the Ministry, at negotiated consultancy rates. We are looking for Providers in Taranaki, Whanganui, Manawatu, Hawkes Bay and Tairawhiti.
The key aim for a provider is to resolve the identified areas of risk through their leadership and decision making, whilst building board capability to govern the school. Providers are neither Ministry employees nor board members – the brief is to act within their given powers and duties to achieve the agreed intervention objectives.
Providers work closely with the principal, board, (except when appointed as a commissioner to replace the board entirely), proprietor (when it's an integrated school) and Ministry.
If you become an approved provider, you are free to say yes or no to any request to take on a statutory intervention. There might be times when you have no statutory roles, and times you have several.
Your application will include the following questions:
Do you have a current Police Check (Criminal Record Check) for employment?
