We work collaboratively with iwi, Government, not-for-profits and businesses to achieve outcomes that benefit our community.Te aheinga - The opportunityOur Governance Team is looking for a professional and enthusiastic Governance Advisor to support good decision-making processes for our Council and Community Boards. In this role you will have a unique opportunity to gain insight into all aspects of local government and an opportunity to help make New Plymouth District a Sustainable Lifestyle Capital.Governance Advisors possess a unique blend of administrative expertise, interpersonal skills, and a deep understanding of governance principles.Your exceptional administrative skills will help you excel in scheduling meetings, coordinating agenda distribution, and producing timely and accurate minutes. Your organisational skills will enable you to effectively manage information flow and sequencing of decisions across our committee structure. You'll be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (touch typist preferred).Your strong communication and interpersonal skills mean you can communicate clearly and concisely (both orally and in writing), engaging with and supporting our diverse stakeholders including elected members, senior management, our community, and Te Tiriti partners.Your ability to interpret legislation and policy, navigate process constraints, and understand democratic processes will assist you in providing pragmatic advice and guidance to support effective decision-making.Beyond your technical skills you'll need to be:Proactive and self-motivated - able to take initiative, anticipate needs, and work independently to drive tasks and projects forwardOrganised and detail-oriented - with exceptional organisation skills and meticulous attention to detail.
