Environmental, Earth & Geosciences (Science & Technology) Local Government (Government & Defence) Full time Auckland Emergency Management have an opportunity for a permanent full time GIS and Data Integration Advisor. This role is primarily based in the Auckland City Centre but with some flexibility to work from home or a Council hub. Reporting directly to the Head of Operations, your primary focus will be on developing, integrating, and managing our GIS applications and data systems. You will also maintain strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure the effective use of geospatial data. This role will be required to participate in the 24/7 duty team roster and support emergency response during activation. You could expect to work on: Supporting the delivery of the AEM work programme that requires geospatial outputs e.g. Local Board Readiness and Response Plans and community readiness activities. Ensuring accurate and up-to-date geospatial data is available for emergency planning and response. Provision of geospatial support and solutions to enhance situational awareness during emergency response. You will likely have experience working with advanced mapping technologies and comprehensive spatial planning. Success in this role will depend on your ability to effectively communicate accurate and easily understood geospatial data to a diverse range of stakeholders. You will play a crucial role during emergency activations, making the ability to remain calm and resilient in fast-paced and dynamic environments an essential part of your skill set. We are specifically looking for: Tertiary degree in geospatial technology or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience. 5+ years' experience working in geospatial services & technology applications. A basic knowledge of hazards and risks including the National Disaster Resilience Strategy, the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 and risk management principles would be ideal.
