Huntly is critical to the country's energy security and will play an interesting role in the future as we move to a low carbon future.About the role:As a Generation Controller you'll operate the thermal generation assets, ensuring optimised operations while meeting trading/market requirements, compliance with resource consents, and generation occurs in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring all legislative compliance. This role is shift based. Responsibilities will include:Safely and efficiently operate thermal assets (panel and plant), meeting market/trading requirements and complying with regulations and resource consents.Follow safety, electricity regulations, and policies while maximizing generation within plant constraints.Operate generation plants via HMI, optimising plant performance and coordinate with Fuels, Trading, and Wholesale teams to optimise generation through daily communication.Log, report, and prioritise plant defects for improved reliability and efficiency within the Asset Management framework.Maintain accurate and up-to-date operational documentation, including procedures, job plans, and technical specs.Lead incident control, responding to emergencies to protect people, the environment, and equipment.About you:We are looking for someone that communicates in a clear, confident, and articulate manner. You will be able to build effective relationships, train and mentor and be effective at influencing others. To be successful in the role you will effectively process data to derive sound technical and commercial decisions in real-time. Key skills and experience will include:National Certificate in Energy and Chemical (Enchem) Level 3 or 4 with a focus on Steam Strand (preferred).Relevant operational or market experience aligned with role requirements.4-5 years of hands-on experience in heavy industrial operations.Extensive operational experience in managing large-scale industrial processes.Expertise in steam-powered plants, chemical processing, water treatment operations, and water cycle chemistry.Willingness and ability to work a 24/7 shift schedule.About our benefits:At Genesis, we value your wellbeing and your contribution to our team.
