Generation Technician – Bay of Plenty
Are you an experienced Generation Technician with an electrical or mechanical skillset?
Pioneer Energy Renewables is seeking a skilled technician with expertise in electrical or mechanical systems to join our team working out of the Aniwhenua Power Station. This role offers a unique opportunity to work hands-on in the maintenance, operation, and optimization of hydroelectric generation assets. We are looking for a technically proficient candidate with strong problem-solving abilities, a solid understanding of mechanical or electrical equipment, including power generation systems, control systems, and safety protocols. While prior experience in the electricity generation industry is preferred, candidates with relevant technical expertise and a proactive approach to innovation and continuous improvement are encouraged to apply.
The Job
Our company has a strong team of electrical and other trade specialists that currently provide knowledge and support to maintain the operation of Pioneer Energy Renewables' existing assets and many successful project outcomes. Presently, we have a need for an experienced Technician to become a part of this team. You will assist in providing operating, maintenance and refurbishment services to our existing plant.
You will have good planning and problem-solving skills and the ability to effectively deal with a range of challenges. Your commitment to ensuring the highest standards of Health & Safety, environmental and quality management whilst completing your tasks will be a strength. Your work will be in a range of different environments that will possibly extend your knowledge and experience.
This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week, usually worked Monday to Friday between 8am and 5pm.
You will have the opportunity to:
Work with a company that is long on history but is focused on the future with an Asset Management culture (ISO 55000).
Utilise your expertise in electrical or mechanical maintenance and construction, specialising in the hydro generation.
Operate plant on site and remotely.
Analyse problems and identify innovative solutions.
Explore a range of projects.
As there is a wide-ranging requirement to understand different systems, this does mean that there will be many opportunities to extend your knowledge and skills base. This includes training and development to grow within the company.
About you
We are interested in hearing from you if you have experience in the above-mentioned electrical or mechanical areas and you are:
NZQA trade qualified.
Experienced in installing and maintaining equipment in an industrial situation.
Preferably some high voltage and hydro power experience.
Able to read and interpret schematic drawings and manuals.
Self-motivated and able to work alone in an isolated situation or as a team member.
Willing to participate in an 'On Call' roster with 24/7 site response.
Willing to operate small hydro plant on a rostered basis.
Fit, healthy and active.
Committed to safe working practices.
Hold a current driver license.
