Through integration and collaboration, we're building a health system underpinned by partnership, equity, sustainability, whanau-centred care, and excellence.About the RoleWe are seeking a General Surgeon to join our Surgical team on a full-time permanent basis. The successful candidate will manage a wide range of General Surgical conditions and be expected to fully participate in the General Surgical on call roster (1:10) and manage acute patients. An experienced endoscopist for both upper and lower gastrointestinal procedures would be an advantage. Interest or post-fellowship training in Trauma or Breast would be an advantage.About the Team/Service/LocationThe General Surgical and Vascular team is part of a close-knit and supportive medical community within the Hawke's Bay district. Our team is committed to providing high-quality care to the Hawke's Bay population. We are a department of ten General Surgeons plus a Vascular Surgeon, working alongside our junior medical staff and clinical nurse specialists. We have four accredited General Surgery SET trainees and eight unaccredited General Surgical registrars along with an acute SHO and team House Surgeons.About YouApplicants should have the following qualifications and attributes:Be registered, or eligible for registration, with the New Zealand Medical Council as a Specialist General Surgeon and a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, or equivalent.Hold an approved higher qualification in Surgery, enabling Vocational Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.Experience in projects/initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.How to ApplyTo view the position description click HERE and to apply for the role please click "apply now."
