Details of the offer

Are you a passionate, patient-centered GP looking for a fulfilling role where you can make a real difference to the health and well-being of your community? Ora Toa Health, an innovative, community-focused healthcare provider based in Porirua, is seeking skilled and motivated GPs to join our dedicated team. We pride ourselves on offering a culturally safe environment for both our patients and staff, embracing the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and delivering high-quality care to a diverse population.
About Ora Toa Health:
At Ora Toa, our mission is to provide accessible, comprehensive, and high-quality health services that meet the needs of all our patients. We are committed to the principles of equity and cultural competence, integrating both traditional Maori models of health and modern medical practice. As an organisation, we are deeply rooted in Te Ao Maori (the Maori world), embracing Matauranga Maori (Maori knowledge), and ensuring that all our care is delivered with respect for Maori tikanga, values, and the wider Pacific and ethnic communities we serve.
We believe in the importance of providing healthcare that reflects the cultural identities of our patients, empowering them through partnership, participation, and protection.
What We Offer:
Cultural Competence: Work in a supportive environment that values cultural diversity and fosters understanding and respect for Maori and Pacific values.
Professional Development: A commitment to ongoing learning and growth with opportunities for training in Te Ao Maori and culturally-responsive health practices.
Flexible Working: We understand the importance of work-life balance. Enjoy flexible hours and locations across multiple clinics in the Wellington region. We can take GPs for as little as 2 sessions a week.
Collaborative Team: Be part of a multidisciplinary team, working alongside other healthcare professionals such as nurses, social workers, and community outreach teams, all striving towards the best outcomes for our patients.
Competitive Remuneration: Attractive salary packages and benefits, including continuing education leave, professional support, and unlimited sick leave!
Comprehensive Support: Access to a range of resources, including health and wellness support for staff, to help you thrive in your role.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide high-quality general practice services to a diverse patient population, with a focus on achieving health equity.
Engage with Maori and Pacific communities in culturally safe ways, building trust and rapport.
Work collaboratively with the team to develop care plans that address the physical, mental, and social health needs of patients.
Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of best practices.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with relevant health regulations.
About You:
Vocationally Registered GP: You will be a qualified, vocationally registered GP with experience in primary care, ideally with a strong understanding of the unique health challenges faced by Maori and Pacific communities.
Cultural Awareness: A commitment to working within a kaupapa Maori framework and an understanding of the social determinants of health.
Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
Patient-Centered Approach: A holistic, compassionate, and culturally responsive approach to patient care.
Flexibility & Adaptability: Able to thrive in a dynamic, community-oriented environment where people really care.
