Location: Whaitara Health Centre
Whaitara Health Centre is a rural community hub housing a general practice, allied health support services (podiatrist, chiropractor, radiology and dentist) and access to a wide range of other health and social wellbeing services. It is one of two general practices owned and operated by Tui Ora, with the other located in New Plymouth, a short 20-minute drive away.
Work alongside a dedicated team of healthcare providers including fellow GPs, nurses, pharmacists, paramedics, administrators and kaihapai. Our practice is equipped with the latest technology and resources, ensuring you have the tools needed to provide high-quality care to whanau.
A holistic kaupapa Maori (Maori approach) primary care organisation, Tui Ora empowers whanau (patients) to set their own health and wellbeing hauora goals and create a pathway to reaching them.
Whanau are supported and empowered by our experienced and multi-disciplinary teams that include a community nursing team made up of long-term health, diabetes, cancer, child and respiratory specialists, mental health and addiction services, social service navigator support, alcohol and drug recovery, and youth services.
Our proven Maori model of care supports positive change for individuals, their families, and the community as a whole.

Mo te turanga | About the role
We are on the look-out for an experienced and passionate GP Lead to become a vital part of our clinical team based at Whaitara Health Centre in Whaitara. You will provide clinical leadership to the team and be supported by our Clinical Director, Clinical Nurse Lead and Business Manager.
Kia ekena a angitu | To promote success in this role, you will have:
Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand or eligible to apply for registration
Fellowship of the Royal NZ College of General Practitioners, or training towards FRNZCGP
An international postgraduate medical qualification in general practice
Preferably leadership experience within General Practice
A good knowledge of general practice care in Aotearoa (New Zealand) (desirable)
Experience in applying tikanga Maori as it applies in the role (desirable).
A full, clean NZ Driver Licence or equivalent
