General Medicine Registrar at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Southern, SouthlandSouthland Hospital Start date: 27 January 2025 Salary band: $142,813 - $240,440 and Kiwisaver The mission of the Southland Hospital General Medicine service is to deliver excellent patient care and at the same time facilitate the development of outstanding Registrars. We cover a wide range of medicine specialties, including diabetes and endocrinology, respiratory, renal, and much more.
Mo te turanga - About the role Fully staffed with trained General Physicians, many of whom are also qualified in various subspecialties.Medical patients are admitted to General Medicine, ensuring excellent breadth and depth of exposure to a wide range of medical conditions.Opportunity for exposure to ambulatory work within the onsite subspecialties provided by the dual trained General Physicians, which include Cardiology, Respiratory, Endocrinology, Nephrology, and Gastroenterology.We maintain the care for acutely unwell patients including those requiring ICU admission, allowing advanced trainees to satisfy the high acuity requirement of their training.All other medical subspecialties are covered by visiting consultants from Dunedin Hospital, providing ample time and opportunity to nurture any subspecialty interests alongside General Medicine experience.We offer a clinically challenging and busy yet supportive environment for you to thrive.Our ideal candidate will have: Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand or eligibility for general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.Medical Registrar experience preferred, but RMOs with a minimum of one year post-qualification experience and exposure to general medical runs can apply.It is a requirement of the Medical Council of New Zealand that your qualifications are approved through EPIC. If you are committed to working in New Zealand, it is recommended to start this process as soon as possible for timely registration.

Utu whanui - Salary range This role is covered by the terms and conditions of New Zealand Resident Doctors Association and 20 DHB Multi Employer Collective 18 June 2024 - 31 July 2026 (NZRDA SECA) and Specialty Trainees of New Zealand and 20 District Health Boards Multi Employer Collective Agreement 14 February 2024 - 28 February 2026 (the STONZ SECA). The salary will fall between $142,813 - $240,440 depending on relevant experience.
