An exciting opportunity has become available to work at Health New Zealand – Lakes, Rotorua and Taupo Hospitals as a General Internal Medicine Physician.
Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora - Lakes provides healthcare to a population of 112,000 people from its two general hospitals in Rotorua and Taupo, a top tourist area of New Zealand. We take pride in all our services we provide and aim to improve, promote and protect health in our region.
The Lakes region is a fantastic place to live and play, there are many spots to explore from geothermal wonderlands, to the stunning lakes in summer, skiing in winter down the road by Taupo, to the beach less than an hour away, and the infamous redwoods for grounding walks and fun mountain bike trails.
Roles available involve general medicine in-patient hospital based care, with a mix of out-patient care. We have multiple positions available, with a subspecialty interest in the following areas:
Respiratory
Gastroenterology
Neurology
Cardiology
Palliative care
Endocrinology and diabetes
Healthcare of the elderly
Foeto-Maternal Medicine
Oncology
Haematology
Renal medicine
We are flexible and are happy to accommodate whether you wish to be full time or part time.
To be suitable for this position applicants must:
hold or be eligible for Specialist (Vocational) registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand - click here for the MCNZ Registration Self-Assessment Tool to see what registration pathway you could be eligible for
provide an up to date CV, Cover Letter and 3 written references on an RP6 form
Have experience in the acute hospital setting
Has a focus on equitable services and health outcomes
Actively participate in the education and training of under graduate and post graduate medical and nursing staff.
Continuing Medical Education (CME) allowance for successful long term and permanent appointments.
