Salary: Base salary from ASMS 2024 (NZD 185,380 - 267,980)
Join us as we change the future of healthcare in Southern NZ (Permanent 1.0 FTE negotiable)
Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is dedicated to serving all New Zealanders. Through integration and collaboration, we're building a health system underpinned by partnership, equity, sustainability, whanau-centred care, and excellence.
About the role
We are looking for a General Medicine Physician, with subspecialty interest in Nephrology, who wishes to work in a young and dynamic department of predominantly New Zealand trained Physicians. Our service in Southland is a 38 bed medical ward and 6 bed critical care unit, covering the Southland, Queenstown and Te Anau regions. Sub-speciality support is provided predominantly by Dunedin Hospital, however we have a number of dual trained Physicians on site who work in both inpatient medicine and outpatient specialties.
You would join a team of 7 sharing equally in the acute roster, providing both inpatient and outpatient services. We are an accredited site for Basic and Advanced Physician training and provide an excellent training experience here in General Medicine. For physicians who are dual trained there is opportunity to accommodate and negotiate ongoing sub-speciality practice and we would be open to further discussions involving any specialty alongside Internal Medicine. We have a strong sense of team work here and have systems in place to ensure the inpatient workload is very manageable, especially in comparison to larger centres around New Zealand. The work life balance here is truly exceptional.
