General Manager Operations & Supply Chain Ballance Agri-Nutrients is a New Zealand success story that plays a crucial role in underpinning New Zealand's agricultural economy.
Owned by 16,000 New Zealand farmers, the Co-operative's portfolio includes fertiliser manufacturing, nutrients, research, product innovation and on-farm advice, online farm management and agricultural aviation services.
One of New Zealand's Top 50 Companies, Ballance has revenues of circa $950 million and employs over 700 people across New Zealand.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this key strategic role will be charged with delivering a future-fit manufacturing and supply chain environment by driving enhancements, efficiencies and leveraging the significant capex which allocated to the function to achieve business goals.
There will be a range of interesting and rewarding strategic challenges to address as Ballance continues to transform its business.
The appointee will lead a total team of circa 420, covering manufacturing, supply planning and distribution via a national retail and hub network.
Key responsibilities include driving the development and implementation of the Operations & Supply Chain strategic plan and creating a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
Accordingly, we are seeking expressions of interest from individuals who have: Deep functional experience relating to the management of a large-scale manufacturing/operations environment.
This expertise could come from a range of sectors such as industrial manufacturing, FMCG et al.
Ideally this expertise would be supported by previous experience running a supply chain function, as part of an integrated manufacturing/supply chain director mandate.
Inspirational people leadership – a person who can create a culture of employee engagement and high performance.
Strong strategic capabilities to assist the CEO and the Board to define the future manufacturing and supply chain footprint for Ballance given decarbonisation and environment considerations.
Proven expertise in health & safety matters and a track record of driving safety as a company's number one priority.
A disciplined and analytical focus on optimising operational metrics.
Someone who has the confidence and gravitas to work closely with Ballance's sales team and transact seamlessly with strategic trade partners.
Strong commercial capabilities to judiciously manage relationships with key vendors regarding long term supply arrangements.
Exposure to applying digital approaches to resolve supply chain or operational challenges would be highly advantageous.
Knowledge of, or an affinity for / interest in the agricultural industry.
