Regional Tourism New Zealand is the peak membership organisation representing Regional Tourism Organisations across Aotearoa New Zealand. RTNZ advocates for the interests of RTOs, fosters collaboration, and provides strategic leadership to advance the sustainable development of tourism in New Zealand's regions.This newly created General Manager role will report to the Chair and Trustees of RTNZ and provide leadership in delivering on the strategic priorities and focus areas as set out in the business plan. The General Manager will lead the advocacy efforts on behalf of the RTOs, implement RTNZ's vision of sustainable tourism, and provide high-level leadership and operational support to ensure the long-term success of regional tourism in New Zealand.This role could be suitable for someone looking for less than full-time hours; we're open to discussing that with qualified candidates.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership and Advocacy: Understand the issues and needs of RTOs to represent and advocate for RTOs at the local, regional, and national levels, ensuring their voices are heard and their interests are advanced.Capability Building: Lead the development and delivery of professional development programmes for RTOs.Communications and Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and implement a structured communications plan that ensures consistent, transparent, and effective communication with all stakeholders. Ensure RTNZ members are well-informed of organisational activities, decisions, and strategic priorities through regular communication and reporting.Event Leadership: Plan and facilitate a series of targeted events that are purposeful, sustainable, promote knowledge sharing, collaboration for members, and alignment with key industry stakeholders.Operational Leadership: Lead the day-to-day operations of RTNZ, including financial management, governance support, and reporting to the Board of Trustees. Provide effective oversight of any staff and contractors, ensuring a high standard of performance.
