Position Overview: Beattie Air Conditioning Service, a leader in the Canterbury HVAC industry, is seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager to lead our team of 30 professionals, including service technicians, maintenance technicians, and admin staff. Reporting directly to the CEO, the General Manager will be responsible for the daily operations of the company, ensuring excellence in service delivery and driving growth through strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership: Develop, share, and implement long-term strategic plans that align with the company's vision and goals. Ensure these plans are communicated effectively across all levels of the organization.
Growth and Development: Identify growth opportunities within the market and set departmental goals that drive both revenue and operational efficiency. Lead efforts to acquire new staff and clients, ensuring the company remains competitive and responsive to market needs.
Financial Management: Oversee budgeting processes, manage budgets, and monitor financial performance to ensure that the company meets its financial targets. Provide monthly performance updates to the CEO and make recommendations for financial improvements.
Stakeholder Relationships: Maintain and strengthen key stakeholder relationships. Develop and implement effective marketing strategies that enhance the company's market presence and client engagement.
Team and Culture Development: Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the company. Support the senior service engineering team with upskilling efforts to ensure technical excellence across the team.
Safety and Compliance: Oversee all safety programs to ensure legal compliance and the well-being of all employees. Ensure that the company adheres to all relevant regulations and standards.
Performance Management: Establish KPIs and conduct regular performance reviews to drive accountability and results within the team. Address any performance issues promptly and implement corrective actions to maintain high standards of service.
Risk Management: Identify and mitigate operational risks, ensuring the company is prepared to respond to any challenges that may arise.
Fleet Management: Develop a comprehensive vehicle fleet strategy that supports the operational needs of the company while ensuring cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
Administrative Responsibilities: Attend Board Meetings and BAC PM meetings to represent the service and maintenance team. Provide insights and updates that inform strategic decisions at the executive level.
Support Functions: Collaborate with the HR Coordinator to support recruitment, onboarding, and employee relations. Sign off on stop credits, debt collection, and leave requests, ensuring that administrative processes run smoothly and efficiently.
Candidate Profile:
Leadership Experience: Proven track record in a senior management role. Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage a diverse team of technicians and support staff.
Financial Acumen: Experience in managing budgets and financial performance, with the ability to interpret financial data and make informed decisions that benefit the company.
Strategic Thinker: Ability to develop and implement long-term strategies that align with company goals and drive growth.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels, including board members and the executive team.
