The Christchurch School of Gymnastics (CSG) is one of New Zealand's largest and most competitive gymnastics clubs. CSG's mission is to encourage, enhance and inspire physical development and life skills through gymnastics. They offer programmes for all ages in recreational gymnastics and competitive artistic gymnastics, trampoline gymnastics and aerobic gymnastics. Their athletes have competed to the highest levels, including at World Championships, Commonwealth Games and Olympic Games. The administrative staff and coaches are professional and highly qualified in their fields, and they have a beautiful, purpose-built facility that opened in 2018.
About the role:
The General Manager will provide sound leadership, manage the administrative and coaching teams and ensure the smooth running of all of CSG's operations. This role works closely with the CSG Board to implement the Strategic Plan and to explore opportunities for growth.
Key responsibilities:
Oversee CSG's day-to-day operations, facility and equipment
Follow and implement policies and procedures agreed with the CSG Board
Manage HR and marketing functions (with external support as required)
Prepare regular reports for the CSG Board, including on programme effectiveness
Work with the CSG Board and staff to maintain budgets and improve financial performance
Safeguard members and staff, following all health and safety requirements and member protection policies
About You:
Our client is looking for an effective and dedicated General Manager with a strong background in financial and facility management along with exceptional people-management skills.
The ideal candidate's qualities and attributes:
Demonstrated ability to lead and manage staff effectively
Strong leadership, integrity and effective decision-making ability
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
The ability to articulate and promote CSG's Vision
Proven business and financial management expertise
Experience and knowledge of the sports sector and environment in New Zealand, preferably with experience in or a passion for gymnastics
The capacity to work collaboratively with the CSG Board and relevant interest groups such as the Membership, officials and volunteers, and other community and sporting organisations and government agencies
