Mangatawa Papamoa Blocks Incorporation (MPBI) is seeking a dynamic and visionary General Manager to lead and manage the day-to-day operations of our diverse organisation.

Our mission is to protect and grow our shareholders' assets, fostering sustainable growth and prosperity for future generations.
We manage a broad portfolio of business activities, including land development, horticulture, retirement villages, industrial ground leases, community housing, and commercial investments, while placing a strong emphasis on kaitiakitanga (guardianship), manaakitanga (hospitality), and whanaungatanga (relationships).
About the Role:  Located in the scenic Papamoa hills overlooking our tangata whenua, with a view straight out to the Bay of Plenty Moana, this full-time, permanent position is situated in an idyllic setting with stunning purpose-built offices accommodating a dedicated team.
Our current highly-regarded GM is remaining with MPBI on the Board of Directors, and we are all very excited to welcome in another inspirational leader to work closely with the CEO, manage our people at an operational level, and continue to drive productivity and performance.
Key Responsibilities: Operational Leadership: Oversee the daily operations, ensuring efficiency and alignment with strategic goals.
Develop and implement strategies to drive continuous improvement.
People Leadership: Lead and mentor a high-performing team, fostering a positive work environment aligned with Maori values.
Financial Management: Oversee budget management and financial reporting, ensuring sound decision-making and resource allocation.
Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with shareholders, iwi, government, and community partners.
Project Management: Lead the execution of key projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
Cultural Competency: Uphold and promote Maori tikanga (customs) and values across all organisational activities.
Qualifications and Experience Required: Proven experience in a senior management or general management role, ideally within Maori or community-focused organisations.
Strong leadership skills with a track record of building collaborative and high-performing teams.
Demonstrated expertise in operational management, financial oversight, and stakeholder engagement.
Understanding of Tikanga Maori and te reo Maori, or a commitment to learning and integrating these into daily practice.
Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
Some experience in the pre-mentioned portfolio of business activities would be an advantage.
