We work to protect and enhance our natural environment through various marine and freshwater conservation initiatives and community engagement programs at a catchment scale.Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced General Manager to strengthen our organizational capacity and oversee operations across Auckland and Northland regions.
This role will focus on systems improvement, human resources management, strategic planning, financial management, and operational oversight while ensuring smooth day-to-day functioning of the Trust.Key ResponsibilitiesProcure and oversee contracts and operations across Auckland and Northland regions including managing an office space in Rosedale, Auckland.Oversee and manage operations across Auckland and Northland regions.Organise and chair monthly team meetings.Lead system improvements and organizational development initiatives.Assist Co-Directors and Finance Manager in managing the transition process of some contractors to employees, including analysis and implementation.Handle HR matters, including recruitment and performance management.Prepare and present reports for Board meetings.Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.Support mana whenua engagement and ensure opportunities for cultural competency building within the team.Lead strategic planning and implementation in Northland and Auckland regions.Be a direct report for Programme Managers, Regional Coordinators, and Communications Manager.Required Qualifications and ExperienceTertiary qualification in Business Management, Non-profit Management, or related field.Proven experience in senior management roles, preferably in the non-profit and environmental/conservation sector.Strong track record in operational management and systems improvement.Experience in HR management and performance development.Willingness to uphold Te Tiriti o Waitangi.Experience with mana whenua engagement.Financial management and reporting expertise.Excellence in stakeholder relationship management.Strong understanding of the New Zealand non-profit sector.Strategic thinking and planning capabilities.Financial acumen and budgeting experience.Cultural competence and willingness to learn more.Strong leadership and people management skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.Problem-solving and analytical skills.Personal QualitiesStrong commitment to environmental conservation.Adaptable and flexible approach to work.Excellent organizational and time management skills.Ability to work autonomously while maintaining strong team relationships.Professional and ethical approach to work.Additional InformationMust be based in Auckland.Regular travel to Northland required.Flexible working arrangements available.Must be willing to work as a Contractor to the Trust and utilise own vehicle and computer and phone.To ApplyPlease submit your CV and cover letter detailing your relevant experience and why you would be suitable for this role.
