We provide impartial, evidence-based advice to the Government on mitigating and adapting to climate change. We also monitor progress towards emissions reduction and adaptation goals and report on this publicly.

The General Manager, Evidence and Advice is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team who works closely and collaboratively with other leaders across the Commission.
The General Manager has ownership for building the evidence base, expertise, analytical tools, and technical engagement that are a core part of the Commission's statutory deliverables under the CCRA, and anticipates future work for the Commission.
Pioneer evidence innovation: Lead the creation and enhancement of the Commission's evidence base and analytical tools, including developing new evidence products that not only underpin our statutory deliverables but also have a standalone impact when released publicly.Engage stakeholders insightfully: Build and maintain strong, meaningful relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring the rigorous collection, testing, and validation of evidence that enhances our credibility and influence.Champion collaborative leadership: Work closely with the Executive Leadership Team and support the Chief Executive in delivering the CCRA work programme, ensuring seamless integration across teams and maintaining a high-performance relationship with the Board.A foundation of trusted evidence is essential for achieving a sustainable, low-emissions and climate resilient future. Nga herenga | The role will involve This role requires an adept people and thought leader who can assist the Chief Executive in developing a high-performing relationship with the Commission's Board and, as part of the ELT, contribute to enterprise leadership.
The GM Evidence and Advice will build constructive relationships through technical engagement with key stakeholders, as you develop and test the Commission's evidence base and build its credibility.
As a key member of the ELT, you will actively support and contribute collaboratively to the work of team taking an enterprise view, including contributing to initiatives and deliverables led by others in ELT, where input is needed from across the functional groups and provide quality strategic advice on current and emerging issues, considering associated risks and implications, demonstrating high levels of political savvy. As part of ELT, you will also work closely with the Commission's Board.
The GM Evidence and Advice will drive the application, integration and use of te ao Maori, tikanga, matauranga Maori and the Maori economy in the Commission's reports and advice.
To be successful in this role you will be a proven practitioner and:
A thought leader in your field, across government, private or non-government sectors nationally and/or internationally.An effective manager of leaders, including leading teams to deliver high-quality analysis and modelling.Can successfully build and maintain relationships with a range of stakeholders, including understanding different stakeholder's motivations and have the ability to influence and persuade.Understand te Tiriti o Waitangi/the Treaty of Waitangi, Treaty principles, te ao Maori (including tikanga and kawa) and be experienced engaging with iwi and Maori.Have an excellent knowledge of:The government and business environmentHow to use evidence and analysis to make sound decisionsStrategic and risk managementQuality assurance systems and processesHave strong knowledge of and experience of a range of research, evidence and analytical methods, including emerging and innovative approaches and frameworks.The likely appointment range for this role is between $204,658 and $255,822.
