We provide impartial, evidence-based advice to the Government on mitigating and adapting to climate change. We also monitor progress towards emissions reduction and adaptation goals and report on this publicly.Join the Commission as we expand our efforts from primarily mitigation to a comprehensive approach that includes adaptation, the national climate risk assessment, and monitoring the country's progress on climate action. Be part of this exciting transition as we take on our expanded work program as set out in the Climate Change Response Act (CCRA).Te Turanga | The roleThe General Manager Delivery is a key member of the executive leadership team who work closely and collaboratively with other leaders across the Commission. The GM will deliver:Impactful Quality Reports: Lead the end-to-end production of advice, ensuring our reports deliver maximum value and make a significant impact for all New Zealanders.Streamlined Team Operations: Enhance our delivery model and establish efficient, effective ways of working. Collaborate with the GM - Evidence and Advice to empower our expert staff.Enterprise-Wide Efficient Planning: Develop robust planning capabilities across the entire organisation, optimising resource deployment, and building agility to adapt swiftly to changing needs.The role is strongly future-focused, laying the groundwork for upcoming initiatives, streamlining activities and processes, and ensuring that effective planning is consistently embedded across the Commission.Nga herenga | The role will involveThe role requires an adept people and thought leader who can assist the Chief Executive with engagement, and communicate evidence and analysis related to climate change issues to government agencies, private industry, iwi and Maori, NGOs and the wider public regarding climate change. As a key member of the ELT, you will actively support and contribute collaboratively to the work of team taking an enterprise view, including contributing to initiatives and deliverables led by others in ELT, where input is needed from across the functional groups and provide quality strategic advice on current and emerging issues, considering associated risks and implications, demonstrating high levels of political savvy.As part of ELT, you will also work closely with the Commission's Board. The General Manager Deliver will drive the application, integration and use of te ao Maori, tikanga, matauranga Maori and the Maori economy in the Commission's reports and advice.He korero mou | About youTo be successful in this newly established role you will be a proven practitioner and:A thought leader in your field, across government, private or non-government sectors nationally and/or internationally.An effective manager of leaders, including leading teams to deliver high-quality projects and reports.Be able to quickly grasp complex information and explain issues clearly to a range of audiences, including non-technical experts.Successfully build and maintain relationship with a range of stakeholders, including understanding different stakeholder's motivations and have the ability to influence and persuade.Understand te Tiriti o Waitangi/the Treaty of Waitangi, Treaty principles, te ao Maori (including tikanga and kawa) and be experienced engaging with iwi and Maori.Have an excellent knowledge of: The government and business environment, How to use evidence and analysis to make sound decisions, Strategic and risk management, Quality assurance systems and processes.Nga ritenga | What we offerThe chance to make a difference to Aotearoa New Zealand, an office with harbour views in the centre of Wellington, flexible working, five weeks annual leave.
