General Manager - Corporate and Board Secretary There's a good chance you've heard of the New Zealand Infrastructure Commission, Te Waihanga.
We're small (but mighty) and haven't been around long by government standards.
But our job is as big as it gets, helping New Zealand get the right infrastructure, whether it's transport connections that get us from a to b, water and power connections needed to support affordable homes, or schools and hospitals that support our communities.
Te Waihanga seeks to transform infrastructure for all New Zealanders.
By doing so our goal is to lift the economic performance of Aotearoa and improve the wellbeing of all New Zealanders.
Just some of our achievements include developing New Zealand's first infrastructure strategy which sets a direction for decades to come, as well as ground-breaking research into the roots of the housing crisis, the efficiency of our infrastructure sector, recommendations for our health infrastructure while also maintaining a pipeline that provides insight into New Zealand's planned infrastructure projects.
This is why we need you.
We're looking for someone to lead the organisational support functions at Te Waihanga.
This includes responsibility for our finances, contracts and legal obligations, information technology, business processes, reporting, risk management, communications, buildings and facilities, and human resources.
In this role you will lead a team of professionals who are 100% committed to enabling others within the organisation to thrive through exceptional planning, support services, high quality systems and equipment, and on-time delivery of reporting and advice.
You will also contribute to enabling the performance of the Board, business units and the Executive Leadership Team, ensuring a consistent approach, first class communications and a professional market facing brand across all channels and events.
This role will also be responsible for: Managing and leading a high performing corporate services team to support the delivery of Te Waihanga's objectives.
Delivery of a high-quality Board work programme and meetings, in consultation with the Board Chair, Risk and Assurance Committee & Deputy Board Chair and Chief Executive.
Playing a key role in providing leadership team support and guidance working as one organisation, sharing expertise, information and knowledge with other leaders to achieve goals.
To do this you will be experienced at things like: Corporate or business management for an organisation of at least $5m annual turnover.
Leading teams of at least two to four direct reports at senior level with a strong track record of high staff engagement, consistently high output and results.
Working as part of a senior executive team with a history of building rapport and influence at board level desirable.
You will also have: A relevant tertiary qualification at Bachelor level is essential with a preference for commerce, business, operations management, finance or similar degree from a reputable University.
Strong understanding of public policy, legislative functions and processes, machinery of government and how to work effectively across central government agencies.
Familiarity with the issues and trends associated with Infrastructure in New Zealand and/or other jurisdictions.
