About the role We are currently inviting applications for a Gardener to join our Maintenance team.  Reporting to the Chief Engineer, the Gardener is responsible for maintaining the aesthetic appearance and health of plants, trees, lawns and gardens.  The role involves general gardening duties, including planting, pruning, mowing and pest control, while ensuring the hotel landscapes are well maintained throughout the year.  The incumbent is also responsible for the general maintenance of the building, equipment and surrounding area, using safe working practices to ensure that it remains a pleasant and safe environment for all guests, visitors and employees.  If you are a motivated and experienced gardener with a passion for gardening and landscaping, we would love to hear from you. Key responsibilities include: Work operational shifts as required within the hotel.Planting and caring for flowers, trees, shrubs, and lawns.Regular lawn mowing, edging, and hedge trimming.Pruning trees and shrubs to maintain shape and health.Weed control using environmentally friendly methods and appropriate chemicals when necessary.Soil preparation, mulching, and fertilizing to promote plant growth.Maintaining garden equipment and tools to ensure good working condition.Identifying and treating plant diseases and pests.Removing leaves, debris, and waste to ensure tidy gardens and outdoor areas.Assisting with landscaping projects and garden design improvements.Implementing sustainable gardening practices in line with environmental policies.Adhering to workplace health and safety standards at all times.Planning, schedule and implementation of maintenance requirements of the hotel.Complete daily plant rounds and note for repair any equipment that may appear or sound faulty.Create maintenance schedules for hotel equipment.On completion of daily rounds sign off any relevant section of the Maintenance Schedules.Ensure the workshop is maintained in a safe and clean working condition.Plan and implement the maintenance of the mechanical stores inventory.Respond to maintenance requests within one hour of receipt and if there are delays promptly advise the Chief Engineer and/or the Manager on Duty.Maintain the maintenance software system. Liaise with the Chief Engineer regarding all work in guest rooms and public areas to ensure down areas of the hotel are brought back into use as soon as possible.Complete and file job sheets on all work that is carried out on gardens, guest rooms or operational areas of the hotel.Developing and implement energy and cost saving ideas.
