We are currently looking for a fit and experienced Class 2 Owner Driver to join our growing team. This is an Owner Driver role in our Tauranga branch.
This role will be a 6-day per week position, circa 60 hours per week servicing the wider Tauranga area. Flexibility in start and finish times may be required. In this role, you will be emptying, delivering, and exchanging trade bins of various sizes on sites, visiting a large variety of sites that have collections ranging from builders to other trade customers, including residential casual customers. Access will vary and requires skill and patience to ensure collections are made. Experience with truck-mounted units or machinery is preferred but not essential.
As an Owner Driver, you will be running your own business, so will be responsible for paying GST, tax, and operating bills. You are required to be GST registered and have your own (or company) Transport Service Licence.
The ideal candidate will have the following:
Class two Driver's Licence - An experienced licensed driver who has stayed current with developments in equipment, tools, business practices, and regulations. You must have an excellent driving record and at least three years of class two driving experience.
Mechanical and Maintenance Skills - Basic knowledge of how a truck operates to carry out minor breakdown repairs and ensure compliance with safety standards.
Courteous - Good "people skills" to interact well with other drivers, customers, and service staff.
Previous experience in a similar driving role is preferable.
Relevant transport industry knowledge and experience.
Sound knowledge of the wider Tauranga roads and areas will be an advantage.
Self-motivated and able to work to strict deadlines.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Proven problem-solving skills.
Strong relationship builder and team player.
