We have an exciting opportunity for a G&B Line Mechanic to join our team!
The role We're excited to offer a rewarding role for a Glove and Barrier Line Mechanic (G & B Line Mechanic) to join our Overhead team based in Wellington.
In this crucial role, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair and installation of power lines.
Reporting to the Field Manager – Overhead, you will thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our power distribution network.
Being the G&B Line Mechanic, you will also be responsible for: Carry out routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on overhead and underground power lines Safely install new lines, transformers, and related gear Minimise downtime while ensuring everything runs smoothly Conduct safety tests and inspections to meet compliance standards Use and maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles for line work Work with your team to complete jobs on time Respond to emergencies, like power outages or storm damage, and restore services quickly when needed Follow safety protocols and encourage a safety-first mindset within the team.

You are safety-focused, dependable, and passionate about maintaining the reliability of our power distribution network.
Additionally, possessing the following would be beneficial: At least two years proven experience as a Line Mechanic, preferably in a utility or electrical services environment In-depth knowledge of power line construction, maintenance, and repair techniques ERWB Registration as a Glove and Barrier Line Mechanic Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in the electrical industry Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Full clean Class 2 driver's licence Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
